Loyal readers know that I write about ways to expand power outlets on a regular basis. I’ll first follow up on the BESTEK USB Power Tower With 8 Outlets and 6 USB Ports I wrote back in early February 2021. Then I’ll walk about an option for expanding the wall outlets. Yes, both will include links to purchase the products from Amazon that earn me a tiny commission. Both are products that I purchased at regular prices.
When I wrote about the Bestek “power tower” back in February, I chose an option that did not include wireless charging. For those who don’t need wireless charging, go with the version I originally wrote about. I felt it was worth spending the extra $5 for adding wireless charging so that I could charge my phone and tablet. For my needs, I went with the BESTEK USB Power Strip with 10W Wireless Charger 8-Outlet Surge Protector and 40W 6-Port USB Charging Dock Station. It has the same eight AC outlets and six USB ports while adding wireless charging on top.
The power tower is perfect for my desk and I got a couple of others to use at other locations in my house. But in some locations, I wanted something that’s on the wall. While I had some wall versions already, it was difficult to truly use all the plugs available. Therefore I went with the USB Wall Charger Surge Protector 5 Outlet Extender with 4 USB Charging Ports as it has the plugs spaced on the front and angled sides to allow room for all of them to be used.
One difference between this wall outlet and others are the USB ports. Three of them are USB A ports with a maximum output of 2.4A while the fourth is a USB C port that supports up to 3A output. In total, the four ports can output 4.5A at once. Combined with the five AC outlets, you can power all your devices on a single wall unit.
While these two products do similar things, they both can have a place in your home or office. Either could be used for travel, though the power tower might be a little too bulky. Assess what your need and get whichever one suits those needs. Heck, maybe both of them are useful to you as they are to me.
