Decrapify Your New Computer

August 19, 2010

I’ve told you about the problems I had with buying a new laptop and what I did to resolve the problem. As part of my job of preparing a computer for use, I always format the hard drive and start with my own copy of Windows. That isn’t an option for everyone. Maybe you don’t have extra copies/licenses of Windows to install. Or maybe you don’t want to go to that trouble. Don’t fret, this is another option that can do a good job of removing extra junk from a new computer.

PC Decrapifier is a utility designed to remove the “crap” from a computer. Keep in mind that often that extra stuff is there because the computer manufacturers are paid to include it. You will be shown a list of what is installed and you are able to select what you want removed. Once you’ve made your selections, it will remove all of the unwanted stuff.

Note, this could potentially cause things not to work correctly if you remove the wrong stuff. Please use it with caution! The upside is that you won’t have stuff you don’t want and it can speed up the new computer.

    Al,

I have not used Wintools Ultimate so I can’t comment on it. Decrapifier is mainly to remove unwanted stuff from a new computer.
